Inspiration

I’ve been faltering.

The year has taken off at a quite a pace and I can’t keep up:

Early mornings,
Eternal darkness,

Busy work,

The long commute,

Two young kids on wildly different schedules,

A house to help keep in order,

And much more…

Sometimes, I do have a minute before bedtime

I collapse in the chair,

My brain fried,

My eyes don’t see straight.

I can’t write.

I have stories, but my fingers won’t move

My brain can’t put the thoughts together.

In light of this slump, I wanted to share with you another blogger “Sweet Juniper” who has been truly inspiring for me on many levels.

First he is an active dad. In today’s world, fathers are taking stronger role in their children’s lives. Our society, journalism and big business haven’t caught on though. Whether it’s in Germany, America, England or wherever, the Father is still put on the back burner to the Mother.

This blog proves them all wrong. Men like this need to be brought into the forefront so we don’t forget that we are making a difference. Times have changed.

Second, he and his wife are unbelievably creative. They have created wonderful toys, costumes and much more from almost nothing. Creation + imagination = inspiration for me.

After creation he goes places and makes even more wonderful memories.

His imagery is just as inspiring as his creations, as he takes his children on wondrous adventures. I am sure they’ll be very thankful when their older.

Lastly, he lives in Detroit. In a place that many think to be decrepit, dying and decaying, he finds the beauty, the life and explores it to its fullest.

Whether you are a parent or a Michigander or love creativity, I think you will all get something out of checking out his blog.

Sweet Juniper had an article in Oprah’s magazine which is a wonderful window into this man’s world.

On his latest post, he has some further links to some of his projects.

His Superkids post show’s a good example of what I am talking about.

I plan on working my hardest to create just as many wonderful memories for my children.
